How it works

Twelve reactions.
One great night.

About sixty seconds, four short rounds, two taps per show. Then a personal taste DNA and fifteen ranked picks built around exactly what your reactions revealed.

Last updated: 2026-05-08

01
The profiling

React, do not rate.

You see a show poster. You answer two questions: have you seen it, and what do you think.

  • Seen it
    ·
  • New to me
    ·

Twelve shows total, served in four rounds of three. Between rounds, a one-line read of what your reactions are revealing. No sliders, no questionnaires, no genre checklists.

02
Calibration

The pattern shows itself.

Between rounds, Nunca writes a short observation back to you — “You came to filter, not to browse” or “Slow burns over loud worlds”. Not a horoscope, not a label. Just a quiet read on what your last three taps told us.

The calibration is also a feedback loop on us: if it lands, the next round of shows gets sharper. If it misses, you have a chance to course-correct without having to think about it.

03
The reveal

The taste DNA.

When the four rounds are done, Nunca writes you a short paragraph — twenty to thirty words, max — naming what you actually want from a show right now. Not a list of titles. A read on the person standing in front of the catalog.

Example DNA

“You are drawn to empire-builders operating by their own moral code — protagonists who construct kingdoms and then watch them crumble. Slow tension over loud spectacle, character over plot.”

04
The result

Fifteen picks. One hero. No filler.

One Tonight’s Pick at the top — the single best fit for this version of you, this evening. Fourteen more ranked picks below it, each with a one-sentence reason explaining why this one for this DNA. Plus IMDb rating and which platforms have the show in your country.

If the Tonight’s Pick is something you have already seen, “Already watched it” swaps in the next-best pick instantly. If you want something further outside the obvious, the Surprise Me button hands you a wildcard that fits the DNA but stretches it.

Product

What is Nunca?

A free, anti-algorithmic TV show recommendation tool. You react to twelve shows over four short rounds, and Nunca returns a personal taste DNA paragraph plus fifteen ranked picks tailored to what your reactions actually revealed.

Is Nunca free?

Yes. There is no subscription, no paywall, no premium tier. Nunca stays alive through affiliate commissions when you sign up to a streaming service from a recommendation card. The price you pay the streaming service is identical to going direct.

Do I need an account?

No. Anonymous sessions work fully — you get the same DNA, the same fifteen picks, the same Tonight's Pick. Signing in with Google is only useful if you want to save your taste across devices or come back for fresh picks without redoing the profiling.

How long does it take?

About sixty seconds for the profiling itself. Then about twenty to thirty seconds while the AI writes your taste DNA and ranks the fifteen picks. So roughly a minute and a half from landing to results.

Why only twelve shows?

Twelve reactions is enough to triangulate a real taste signal without becoming a chore. Adding more rounds doesn't make recommendations measurably sharper — it just makes the flow tedious.

Can I redo the profiling?

Yes — anytime. Hit "Start fresh" on any results page or come back to the landing page and tap Read Me again. Saved sign-in users can also tap "Get new picks" on the welcome-back screen, which generates a fresh fifteen without re-running the twelve-show flow.

Privacy & data

What data does Nunca collect?

Your reactions to the twelve profiling shows, your selected platforms and country, your language, and your IP for rate-limiting. If you sign in, your Google identity (email + display name) and the saved DNA. Full breakdown lives in the Privacy Policy.

Do you sell my data?

No. We do not sell your data to anyone. We do not share it for advertising. We do not use it to train AI models. If our position on this changes, we will update the Privacy Policy and notify signed-in users by email.

Can I delete my data?

Yes. Email hi@nunca.app from the address tied to your sign-in (or describing the session you want removed) and we will delete it. Anonymous sessions auto-expire after a retention window described in the Privacy Policy.

How Nunca makes money

How does Nunca stay alive financially?

Affiliate links to streaming platforms. When you tap a platform pill on a recommendation and sign up to that streaming service, the platform may pay Yzzy LLC a small commission. The price you pay the streaming service is the same as going direct. Full disclosure on the Affiliate Disclosure page.

Do affiliate links influence what gets recommended?

No. The AI that generates your taste DNA and the fifteen picks does not know which platforms pay us. It does not know which platforms pay more than others. Recommendations are picked on fit alone — affiliate routing happens downstream, after the choice is already made.

Technical

Why is a show on platform X here but I cannot find it there?

Streaming catalogs change weekly. Our platform-availability data comes from third-party content metadata services that aggregate streaming availability per country, and they can lag a few days. If a recommendation looks wrong, please email hi@nunca.app with the show + your country and we will check it.

What if Tonight's Pick is something I have already watched?

Tap "Already watched it" under the hero card — the next-best pick swaps in instantly, no Claude call, no waiting. If you want something completely outside the obvious, the "Surprise Me" button hands you a wildcard that fits your DNA but stretches it.

Why are recommendations sometimes slow to load?

Generating a personal DNA + fifteen ranked picks is a heavy AI call. We have it down to about twenty to thirty seconds in normal conditions. If it takes longer, the AI is overloaded — Nunca retries automatically, and if it gives up entirely you'll see a brief intermission screen.

Troubleshooting

Something broke. Who do I contact?

Email hi@nunca.app. We read every message — the team is small enough that it lands directly with the people who can fix it. Please include the URL, what you saw, and what device/browser if you can.

About sixty seconds,
and the night is decided.
